Y5 and Y6 attended the GFM Engineering Future Visions event on Tuesday 30 and Wednesday 31 October. They were also joined by 3000 other local Gosport pupils from GFM and other local schools. At the event the children had the opportunity to talk to and interact with a variety of visitors and their resources. Our children loved building, learning, tinkering and trying something new. The event was designed to help engage the children with the real world application of STEM learning to help them understand why we have a STEM curriculum and its relevance in their futures – should they wish to explore future STEM learning or employment opportunities. Furthermore, to enable the children to understand that we are surrounded by STEM which adopts many, many forms. With thanks to all the exhibitors: Army, ASV,BAE, CEMAST, Diving Museum, Hampshire Air Ambulance, Medical Mavericks, NATS, Navy, Portsmouth University, RAL Space, Winchester Science Centre and more. The children were superb ambassadors for the school and many exhibitors commented on how well the children interacted with the event. Titan the Robot at 6ft7 was a huge hit!
