We were recently nominated for another road safety award – Champion of Champions. The team were shortlisted from all Hampshire and Portsmouth schools for the amazing work we do promoting road safety. The judges were particularly impressed with our bike helmet competition and our work around Be Bright Be Seen. 8 children from years 4, 5 and 6 attended the Champion of Champions event last week along with the other schools that were nominated. At the event we took part in lots of fun activities that tested our road safety knowledge. The team did very well at the event and despite not achieving first place on the day, returned to school with a super trophy having represented the school superbly.
Some not so happy news though is that the coach bringing Year 5 back from their trip last week couldn’t get through the parked cars near school and had to drop the children off in the middle of the road (and hold up the other traffic). Please could we remind you to park considerately (leave enough room for an emergency vehicle to get through – fire engines are as big as coaches!), not to park opposite or within 10 metres of a junction (it is a parking offence and you could be issued with a parking/police ticket – not one of ours!) and to consider using our park and stride at the Sea Horse Pub. It could have been your child being put in danger.
Thank you for helping to keep us safe.
