Our recent school trip to the Mary Rose Museum in Portsmouth was a fantastic adventure! Year thoroughly enjoyed stepping back in time to the Tudor era and exploring King Henry VIII’s famous warship. One of the highlights was getting ‘hands-on’ with history during the gun drill experience. Many were able to perform a real gun drill, just like the sailors did over 500 years ago – it was thrilling and gave us a taste of life on board the Mary Rose. The children marvelled at the incredible remains of the ship and the fascinating artefacts that were recovered from the seabed. From the sailors’ personal belongings to the impressive weaponry, there was so much to see and learn about. It was an amazing day that left us all with a deeper appreciation for our maritime heritage and some great stories to tell! The children were superb ambassadors for their school. Go Gomer!
