On Sunday 12 February many members of our Drama Club gave their free time to assist the Asda Gosport shoppers with their bag packing. Some children gave several hours of their time – staff too. We were astounded with the generosity of the shoppers who donated, over a period of 5 hours, an incredible £546.36. In addition to this, a couple of days ahead of the bag back, having heard about the lighting rig fundraising, the Defence Business Services at Centurion Building ( a lodger unit on HMS Sultan’s site) made a donation of £100 towards the lighting rig at the school. This is with thanks to Mrs Jack (one of our brilliant parents) who submitted a bid to the Association Committee requesting a donation for a local cause. We would like to say a mighty big THANK YOU to:

  • Mrs Webber – Asda Community Champion for providing the bag packing opportunity
  • Mrs Jack for her successful bid and to Centurion for agreeing to it
  • The Asda shoppers who were so very generous and complimentary about our polite and well behaved children
  • Parents/carers who transported children to Asda
  • The staff of Team Gomer who gave their Sunday to supervise the event

We have sought advice from another local school with a successful performing arts department. Following on from this, contact has been made with a local company about our lighting rig install.  We are just awaiting a reply. We now have the funds but now need the kit. Watch this space…
