INSET days provide valuable training to the whole team. We work together to complete a range of activities that enhance our training. This helps us to keep your children safe and further enhance the brilliant learning opportunities we can provide.

Last year, 10 members of staff completed their First Aid training. This is renewed every two years. Today, a further 10 members of staff completed their training. We ensure that we phase this learning so that we always have a significant amount of trained staff all at the same time. The support staff worked well together and enjoyed their First Aid refresher.

Our Maths Leader, Mrs Guyett-Smith led a super session for the teachers. Time was spent exploring why some children identify that ‘they can’t do maths’ and ways to address this. Growth Mindset is understood well by the staff and we focused on this to help unpick why some children think they struggle with maths and what we can do to reduce this. Additionally staff used resources to share with children to help with ‘hands-on’ learning and completed planning to incorporate this.

Mr Allen spent the day decorating to maintain our lovely school.
Mrs Kidd completed an audit of the library.
Some support staff completed an inventory of teaching resources to ensure we know what to replace and what to buy to support teaching and learning.
So, a day well spent at Gomer Junior. We are looking forward to seeing this children back at school tomorrow.
