On Thursday 2 November our JRSO and BikeIt! Crew hosted a Green Cross Code Awareness assembly. In the assembly they explored the dangers that are present on the road and how and where to cross safely. This is not an unheard message in our community but one necessary to revisit due to motorists often not being as vigilant as they need to be and to the increasing number of children playing on their phones or listening to music when attempting to cross the road.
Through drama and audience participation the team ensured that all pupils left knowing the 4 steps of the green cross code.

  1. Find a safe place to cross and stop by the curb
  2. Look left and right
  3. Listen for traffic
  4. Walk across the road, keep looking as you cross

We are really pleased to see lots of Gomer children wearing glo and hi-vis items on their school bags and coats, bicycles too, whilst walking to and from school.
