Yesterday, our community gathered for a time of remembrance and reflection. Remembrance honours those who serve to defend our democratic freedoms and way of life. We were delighted to be joined by members of our service families who supported our gathering by reading poems and reflections in addition to collecting and presenting poppy wreaths. Every class made a wreath as part of their class display. Our Service Children took great pride in adding the wreaths to our whole school display and have been well supported by our Service Club Leader, Miss Hall. We were delighted that so many children wore ‘out of school uniform’ which included: military cadets, Rainbows, Brownies, Cubs, Scouts and Beavers. We remembered the sacrifice of the Armed Forces community from Britain and the Commonwealth. We paid tribute to the special contribution of families and of the emergency services. We acknowledged the innocent civilians who have lost their lives in conflict and acts of terrorism. We remembered those currently living in areas of conflict. We will remember them. And take time to remember today also. Gomer will be attending the War Memorial gathering, tomorrow, with our GFM family schools.
