Today, while the school was closed to children, staff from King’s Academy Gomer and King’s Academy Rowner came together for a day of invaluable professional development. This joint training day focused on two essential areas: refreshing First Aid skills and exploring de-escalation techniques and changing perceptions of behaviour. At both academies, we understand how vital it is to keep our knowledge and skills current, so we can best support the children in our care. The First Aid refresher ensured that staff are equipped to respond promptly and effectively in emergencies, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all pupils. The session on de-escalation and behaviour perceptions was particularly insightful. It challenged us to reflect on our approaches to behaviour. It was a wonderful opportunity to learn together as two schools, strengthening the bonds between Gomer and Rowner staff. Sharing ideas, experiences, and best practices makes us stronger as a team and enhances the educational journey for our children. We’re committed to ongoing professional development to ensure we offer the very best for our school communities.
