At our school, fostering a love of reading is one of our top priorities. As part of this, we are thrilled to share our Genre of the Month initiative – a celebration of stories, imagination, and the joy of getting lost in a good book. This month the spotlight is on the Fantasy genre! On a Monday morning, Mrs Mulhall will introduce the theme during assembly, sparking excitement for magical worlds and extraordinary adventures. She shares highlights of some fantastic fantasy books that our librarian, Mrs Kidd, has carefully selected. With titles to appeal to all year groups, there’s something to capture every child’s imagination.
Children are encouraged to choose a fantasy book, dive into its pages, and share their thoughts by writing a review. To make this initiative even more special, Mrs Mulhall’s Friday Top Table includes a ‘book tasting’ session. This is a wonderful opportunity for children to talk about the books they’ve read – what they loved, what surprised them, and even what they might not have enjoyed as much.
This nitiative continues to inspire our young readers and build a culture of storytelling and discovery throughout the school. We look forward to seeing their reviews and hearing more about their fantasy favourites! Keep an eye out for the next Genre of the Month – and until then, happy reading!
