Year 4 have been putting their art and clay skills to the test with an exciting project inspired by How to Train Your Dragon! Using their knowledge of shape, texture, and colour, the children first crafted unique dragon eyes out of clay, carefully shaping intricate details to bring their mythical creatures to life. Once their clay pieces had dried, they moved on to the next stage—painting! With a focus on blending colours, adding depth, and creating striking, realistic effects, the children explored different painting techniques to highlight the texture of their dragon eyes. The results were super —each piece was as unique and imaginative as the young artist who made it! This project is part of Year 4’s broader art curriculum, where children develop their confidence in working with different materials, from sketching and painting to sculpting with clay. They have been honing their skills in moulding, smoothing, and adding fine details to their clay work, preparing them for even more creative challenges ahead. We can not wait to share a display of the finished eyes.
