Each month, the lower school classes participate in a battle on Times Table Rock Stars (TTRS). Points are awarded based on the number of correct answers across any of the four games, and January saw 3GS clinch the win with a fantastic 906 points, closely followed by 4LW with 822.

February’s competition brought a big shake-up, with 4LW rising to first place with an impressive 968 points, leaving 4EC just behind at 856, more than double their previous score. Meanwhile, the Year 3 classes slipped into third and fourth places after a quieter weekend of gameplay. Special recognition goes to Lena, Stanley, and Luca, who secured the top three spots for the month.

Times Table Rock Stars (TTRS) is a valuable tool in supporting children’s learning, particularly in mastering their multiplication facts. Multiplication is a foundational skill that underpins many areas of mathematics, from division to fractions, and even algebra. TTRS is specifically designed to help children learn their times tables in a fun and engaging way. The platform includes games like Garage, which helps with memorisation, and Studio and Soundcheck, which focus on building speed and accuracy.

To get the most out of TTRS, it’s recommended that children spend around 10 minutes, 3 to 4 times a week on the program at home. Regular practice helps improve fluency, turning them into confident mathematicians. By consistently using TTRS, children can strengthen their multiplication skills, laying a strong foundation for all future mathematical learning. Additionally, please watch out for your child’s heat map which was sent home at the end of last week.
