As part of our PE Paralympics unit, Year 4 have been learning about inclusive sports and how they develop key physical skills such as control, coordination, and teamwork.

This week, pupils had the opportunity to experience wheelchair curling. Using chairs and unihockey sticks, they worked on their accuracy and strategic thinking, aiming to get the ball closest to the central cone to score points. This activity helped develop their precision, balance, and tactical awareness—all key components of the Physical Education National Curriculum.

We also took part in seated volleyball, a fast-paced and exciting game that required quick reactions, communication, and teamwork. Pupils worked on their striking and fielding skills while learning the importance of inclusivity in sport.

Through these activities, Year 4 are not only developing their fundamental movement skills but also deepening their understanding of how sport can be adapted to ensure everyone can take part and succeed. We are incredibly proud of their enthusiasm and respect for inclusive sports!
