Yesterday afternoon, Year 3 worked outside in the sunshine bringing the vibrant, bold, and flowing art of Georgia O’Keeffe to life using oil pastels. After a term of exploring her fascinating history, her unique artistic style, and experimenting with different mediums, the children had the chance to apply their learning in a hands-on, creative session.
With O’Keeffe’s iconic floral and landscape paintings as inspiration, the students carefully blended colours, layered textures, and captured the essence of her work. To refine their artistic skills, we used Austin’s Butterfly as a guide, encouraging thoughtful observation, perseverance, and constructive feedback to improve our pieces step by step.
The results? Stunning artworks bursting with colour, detail, and individuality—each a testament to the hard work, creativity, and artistic growth of our talented young artists!
