We are incredibly grateful to Chris, who has generously volunteered her time to support our children in two very special ways: delivering inspiring financial education sessions through MyBank and helping children grow in confidence through reading with George the Reading Dog.

MyBank Workshops
Chris recently led engaging and practical workshops where children explored money management in creative ways. The children loved activities such as designing their own money boxes, learning key financial vocabulary through fun emoji games, and creating comic strips to reflect on smart spending choices. Here’s what the children said they enjoyed:

  • “Making the money boxes and talking about different ways and reasons for saving your money.”
  • “Guessing the words with the emoji was a fun way to learn the key vocabulary.”
  • “The comic strips were fun to make and made you really think about your spending.”

They also told us what they had learned:

  • “There are lots of different banks you can choose from.”
  • “I know more about keeping my money safe.”
  • “It made me think about how I spend – when to save and when to wait for something I really want.”

We loved hearing their thoughtful feedback too:

  • “More maths challenges please – like adding and taking away to solve problems.”
  • “A bit more time to chat in our groups before sharing as a class.”

Reading with George
Chris is also the proud handler of George, our Reading Dog. Every visit brings joy, calm, and confidence to our young readers. The children spoke so warmly about their time with Chris and George:

  • “George sits and listens – it’s like he’s enjoying the story!”
  • “It’s fun when you get to give him treats.”
  • “He snuggles up to you – and sometimes gives kisses!”
  • “Chris helps with tricky words and explains what they mean.”
  • “It’s helped my confidence – I didn’t used to read out loud, but now I do.”

When asked to describe their reading sessions in just a few words, the children said: relaxing, calming and happy.

Thank you, Chris, for the time, energy, and love you bring to our school community. Whether teaching children about money or helping them find their reading voice with George, your support is making a lasting impact. We are very lucky to have you both.
