After five weeks of hard work and creativity, our Year 3 children have finally laid the Pharaoh Fish to rest in their beautifully constructed final resting places, marking the end of a fantastic cross-curricular project on Ancient Egypt.

The young “workers” have embraced their roles with enthusiasm by applying their Mathematics skills to measure and construct pyramid stones, showcasing Art and Design through detailed decorative work, and using Design and Technology to design and build wooden sarcophagi with care and precision. Alongside their practical work, children have also developed their English skills through instructional writing, using the project as a springboard for purposeful, real-world literacy.

This project supported key objectives across the curriculum, including:

  • History: Understanding significant aspects of ancient civilizations.
  • Maths: Measuring, geometry, and using mathematical reasoning in context.
  • Design & Technology: Planning, making, and evaluating functional products.
  • English: Writing for different purposes and audiences.

We are incredibly proud of our Year 3 historians, artists, and engineers. What a brilliant way to bring learning to life!
