This week, children across the school had a super opportunity to share their creativity with the wider community. They were invited to make harvest-themed decorations for a windowsill display at St Mary’s Church, Alverstoke. The children worked thoughtfully, combining autumn colours, vegetables, and leaves to celebrate the season of harvest. We are very proud of their efforts and delighted to have been asked to contribute.
The decorations form part of the Michaelmas Fayre, taking place this Saturday, hosted by the local Rotary Club. Michaelmas is a traditional festival marking the feast of St Michael and the Archangels, often celebrated around the time of harvest. Historically, it was an important turning point in the farming year and is still marked in many communities with festivals and fairs.
The Michaelmas Fayre promises to be a lovely community event for families, with stalls, entertainment, and of course the beautiful displays inside St Mary’s Church. Each windowsill will be decorated by local schools and groups, making it well worth a visit.
We warmly encourage our families to pop along, enjoy the fair, and take a look at the Year 3 contribution.
Go, Gomer!
