Today, we had a Zones of Regulation (ZOR) dress-up day. As a School of Character, we are committed to helping our children build the tools and language they need to understand, articulate, and manage their emotions every day. ZOR is a whole-school approach that uses colours to represent different feelings which we all experience. The four zones are:
🟢 Green Zone – calm, ready to learn, focused
🔴 Red Zone – angry, terrified, out of control
🔵 Blue Zone – tired, sad, lacking energy
🟡 Yellow Zone – excited, nervous, silly

Children and adults came to school dressed in red, green, yellow, or blue, in some cases, a mix of all four! During the day, children and staff explored all four zones through an array of engaging activities, helping us to:

  • understand which emotions belong in each zone
  • recognise how our bodies feel in different emotional states
  • practise strategies to help us return to the Green Zone, where we are calm, focused and ready to learn

It was wonderful to see our pupils so engaged, reflective and thoughtful. The Zones of Regulation will continue to be an important tool in our everyday school life, supporting us to recognise emotions, regulate them, and support one another.

A huge well done to all our children for their enthusiasm, positivity and emotional awareness.
