We were delighted to welcome the Open the Book team from St Mary’s Church back to school this week for another wonderful storytelling assembly! This time, our talented Year 4 children helped to bring to life the second half of the story of Saul’s transformation into Paul, which is a story of drama, courage and faith.
The performance told of the moment when an earthquake shook the prison, the doors flew open, and the chains fell from the prisoners. But instead of escaping, Paul and Silas chose to stay, which was an act of integrity and faith that deeply moved the prison guard.
💡 Key messages:
- Faith and trust – believing even when life feels difficult.
- Courage and integrity – doing what’s right, not what’s easy.
- Hope and transformation – finding light even in dark times.
The children acted brilliantly, showing confidence, empathy and real understanding of the story’s meaning. A huge thank you to the Open the Book team for another inspiring visit, and to our Year 4 pupils for their fantastic participation. We can’t wait for their next visit!
