Our Year 3 children have been busy bringing their RE learning to life through art this week. As part of their unit exploring the concept of ‘holy’ and its connection to the Nativity story, the children studied traditional images of the Madonna before creating their own beautiful painted interpretations.

Using their developing art skills, they explored colour, expression, symbolism and detail to reflect the special role of Mary within the Christmas narrative. The results are thoughtful, vibrant and deeply personal pieces of work that show real care and creativity.

The children demonstrated wonderful focus and reflection as they worked, thinking carefully about why Mary is considered holy and how artists across history have portrayed her. We can’t wait to see he finished designs.
