At King’s Academy Gomer, we are delighted to welcome the Open the Book team from St. Mary’s Church, Alverstoke, to our school on a monthly basis. Their visits are a highlight for our learners, offering a unique opportunity to engage with Bible stories in an interactive and meaningful way. Last week, the team worked with our Year 4 learners to retell the story of the Prodigal Son. Through a creative and engaging performance, they brought the tale to life, helping the children connect with its timeless message. The team also facilitated a thoughtful discussion about how the story’s themes of forgiveness and reconciliation remain deeply relevant today.

The story of the Prodigal Son highlights the power of saying sorry and the importance of forgiving others. In modern life, we all make mistakes, and the ability to admit when we are wrong, as well as to forgive others, is essential for building healthy relationships at home, school, and in the wider community Through this session, the children explored how forgiveness can repair friendships and bring people closer together. They also reflected on how showing compassion and understanding can make a positive difference in their daily lives.

We are incredibly grateful to the Open the Book team for their continued dedication to supporting our learners in exploring these important values. We look forward to welcoming them back for more thought-provoking and inspiring assemblies.
