This week, we have embraced the Chinese Lunar New Year as part of our international curriculum at King’s Academy Gomer. Our celebrations began with an assembly led by Mrs Mulhall, setting the tone for a week of learning and cultural appreciation. Throughout the day, children across the school engaged in Chinese New Year-themed activities, deepening their understanding of this important festival. The atmosphere was vibrant, with beautiful decorations in Reception and other areas of the school, adding to the festive spirit. Lunchtime was a particular highlight, with a delicious Chinese-themed menu enjoyed by all. A special thank you to the FROGS (our fantastic PTA), who kindly gifted every child a fortune cookie – a lovely way to embrace the traditions of the New Year and share in the excitement of what’s to come. As part of our wider learning, some of our Year 6 learners will also be attending an MEP (Mandarin Excellence Programme) event at Bay House tomorrow, further enriching their understanding of Chinese language and culture. This has been a wonderful opportunity for our school community to come together, celebrate, and look forward to the year ahead with hope and positivity. 新年快乐 (Xīnnián kuàilè) – Happy New Year!
