This afternoon, as part of their Science and Personal Development learning, Year 4 recapped their knowledge of the different types of teeth:
- Incisors – used for biting into food
- Canines – used for tearing food
- Premolars and molars – used for grinding food ready to swallow
The children also discussed why it is important to brush our teeth and how to do this properly. There were plenty of laughs when they used disclosing tablets to check their brushing technique which was an engaging (and very colourful!) way to see how effective their brushing really was.
To finish the session, Year 4 set up an investigation to explore the effects of sugar on tooth enamel. We look forward to seeing the results.
