We hope everyone has had a lovely start to Advent and if you are opening an Advent calendar this year, we hope today’s window brought a smile! This season is always a special time in school, filled with anticipation, reflection, and a growing sense of excitement as we move towards Christmas.
Last week, as part of Year 4’s RE learning on the concept of anticipation and the Christian season of Advent, the children explored the meaning and symbolism of Advent wreaths. Advent is an important period for Christians around the world, marking the four weeks before Christmas and encouraging people to prepare with hope, peace, joy, and love.
Both Year 4 classes created their own Advent wreaths, carefully choosing colours, candles and greenery to represent the traditional symbols. The circular shape of the wreath reflects God’s unending love, while each candle has its own meaning and is lit week by week to mark the journey through Advent.
Mrs Carre has also created a beautiful Advent wreath display in our reception area for the whole school community to enjoy as we move through the season. For Christians, the wreath is a reminder to pause, reflect, and look forward with hope during this special time of year.
We look forward to sharing more festive learning and celebrations with you over the coming weeks. Happy Advent, everyone!
