Safeguarding is the action that is taken to promote the welfare of children and protect them from harm. Safeguarding children means:

  • protecting children from abuse and maltreatment
  • preventing harm to children’s health or development
  • ensuring children grow up with the provision of safe and effective care
  • taking action to enable all children and young people to have the best outcomes.

Child protection is part of the safeguarding process. It focuses on protecting individual children identified as suffering or likely to suffer significant harm. This includes child protection procedures which detail how to respond to concerns about a child.

King’s Academy Gomer are committed to safeguarding the welfare of our pupils and to providing a safe environment with robust systems to ensure the safety and healthy development of all our pupils, within the Academy and through all curriculum activity.

Please refer to our policy and procedures.

The GFM work collaboratively across all age phases and have produced a number of key documents, designed to help you to look after yourselves and keep each other safe through COVID-19.

A lot of the content will have already been discussed with you in online safety sessions who with your children directly through PSHCE lessons. Please take the time to have a read through the information that we have provided, and we encourage you to check out some of the websites that we have suggested for additional help, guidance and support.
