Today, we were delighted to welcome the St Mary’s Church Open the Book Team for their final visit of the academic year. The team shared the story of Joseph and his brothers. The children learned how Joseph was treated badly by his brothers. Despite all the difficult experiences Joseph faced, he remained faithful, worked hard and eventually became an important leader in Egypt. When his brothers later came to him needing food during a famine, Joseph chose kindness and forgiveness rather than revenge. He welcomed them, cared for them and helped them when they were in need.

The story carried a powerful message for us all. Difficult times can help us grow, develop resilience and appreciate the good things in our lives. It also reminded us of the importance of forgiveness, kindness and showing compassion towards others, even when they may not always have treated us well.

As always, the children thoroughly enjoyed the storytelling, acting and participation that the Open the Book Team bring to each assembly.

We would like to say a huge thank you to the wonderful volunteers from St Mary’s Church for giving their time so generously throughout the year. Their visits have helped bring Bible stories to life and have encouraged our children to reflect on important values and life lessons.

We look forward to welcoming them back next year.
