A little flashback to December… you may remember the buzz around school as pupils took part in our Leg It to Lapland active travel challenge. We are delighted to share the results. Across the challenge, 12 local schools took part and, together, pupils travelled an incredible 18,538 miles using active travel on the school run. That’s roughly three-quarters of the Earth’s circumference. Thank you to all families who supported children to walk, scoot, cycle, park-and-stride or otherwise choose active ways to get to school — it really does make a difference.

We’re proud to share that King’s Academy Gomer placed 2nd overall, achieving 88.4% active travel across the week. What a brilliant reflection of our community spirit and our commitment to healthy habits. The week was packed with excitement, including:

  • Class visits from Jasper the Bear
  • Golden Lock prizes to celebrate participation
  • Some impressive blinged rides” spotted along the way!

A special thank you to Mrs Billing for organising the challenge for us and keeping everything running smoothly. We really appreciate the time and effort that went into coordinating such a fun and impactful event for our pupils.

Well done again to everyone who took part. Let’s keep the momentum going!
