Our latest Online Safety Newsletter has been emailed home to all families and is also available to read on our school website. This month’s newsletter contains important guidance to help parents and carers support children in staying safe online. Topics include:

  • Online scams – how scammers target children through games, social media and messaging apps, and what families can do to stay protected.
  • Digital footprints – helping children understand how their online activity can leave a lasting record.
  • Pinterest – information about the platform, age restrictions, messaging features and parental controls.
  • Risks of auto-saving images and videos – advice on disabling automatic downloads in apps such as WhatsApp.
  • “Retro – Photos with Friends” app – key information for parents about this photo-sharing platform.
  • Omoggle – awareness of this adults-only platform and the safeguarding risks associated with it.
  • Emoji meanings – understanding how children and young people may use emojis to communicate hidden meanings.
  • BookTrust resources – free online storybooks, videos and games for children.

We encourage all parents and carers to take a few minutes to read the newsletter and discuss online safety regularly with their children. Open conversations and awareness are key to helping young people navigate the online world safely.

Thank you for your continued support in keeping our children safe online. Parents have been invited to attend the Lee Hayward parent session in the School Hall on 26 June at 08.45-9.15am.
