Before half-term, our Year 6 pupils have been developing their gymnastics skills as part of our exciting aerobic gymnastics unit. Over the past few weeks, the children have progressively built their confidence and ability, focusing on key skills such as balance, coordination, and control.

Through a variety of fun and engaging challenges, including the “Plank Macarena,” partner balances while keeping a pen balanced in the air, and teamwork tasks using a balloo, pupils have strengthened not only their physical skills but also their communication and collaboration. Each activity encouraged them to think carefully about precision, stability, and working effectively with others.

The unit culminated in the creation of short group routines. In small teams, the children thoughtfully combined travel, coordination, control, and fluid movement to choreograph their own sequences. It was wonderful to see so many pupils step outside of their comfort zones to perform in front of their peers. Every group produced a unique and inspiring routine, showcasing their creativity, teamwork, and the impressive progress they have made throughout the term.
