Recently, Year 6 were incredibly lucky to have the opportunity to use the school’s VR equipment, and what a fantastic experience it was! The children became fully immersed in the exciting world of Gorilla Tag, where they were able to explore, move, problem-solve and interact in a completely different way. It was wonderful to see their enthusiasm, excitement and confidence grow as they tried something new and entered a virtual world that many of them had only ever heard about or seen online. This experience was about far more than using technology. It gave the children the chance to develop communication skills, resilience and teamwork as they encouraged one another, gave advice and shared strategies. It was especially lovely to see certain individuals shine, using their own knowledge and expertise to support others. For some pupils, this was an opportunity to become the expert in the room – helping classmates, explaining controls and showing patience and leadership in a way they may not always get the chance to do in everyday lessons. A huge thank you must go to the King’s Academies Central IT Team, who provided outstanding support throughout. Their help, guidance, and technical expertise made the session possible, and without them, this brilliant opportunity would not have been possible. Year 6 had the best time, and it was a memorable experience that combined fun, technology, teamwork and confidence-building. It was wonderful to see the children so engaged, so supportive of one another and so proud of what they could do. Go Gomer!
