One of the highlights of our transition days this week was seeing just how quickly our children settled into their new classes and got to know one another. It was wonderful to see children chatting, laughing and working together, with new friendships already beginning to blossom. The welcoming atmosphere across the school reflected the kindness, respect and sense of community that we value so highly at King’s Academy Gomer.
We were particularly pleased to see our current Year 2 pupils (who will become Year 3 in September) spending time with their Year 5 buddies (our future Year 6 pupils). Together, they took part in a collaborative drawing activity, sharing ideas, encouraging one another. It was lovely to watch the older pupils taking such care to help our newest children feel welcome and confident as they prepare for the exciting move to junior school.
The buddy system is an important part of life at King’s Academy Gomer, helping children feel supported from their very first day. We know our new Year 3 pupils are in safe hands, and we look forward to seeing these friendships continue to grow throughout the coming year.
